About our Charities
Last year we chose a main charity and then two local charities and we’re planning to do that again this year.
The main charity for 2010 is Hope for Tomorrow. Hope for Tomorrow is a national cancer charity, which helps those with cancer, their families and dependents cope with the reality of the situation. Funds raised will go towards their Mobile Chemotherapy Unit project. The charity has recently launched two new vehicles: a Mobile Chemotherapy Assessment Unit and a Mobile Chemotherapy Support Vehicle.
We will also be raising money for the Dolphins Hall, partly because they’re letting us use the Rec and the Hall on the day, but also because this is pretty much the only community space the town has and it needs repairs to some of the windows. In 2009 we raised money for paint which gave it a much needed facelift, but there is always something that needs doing on a building of that age.
The third good cause for 2010 is still to be decided. The Fiesta is not a huge money making machine so we’re looking for a local charity, group or organisation to whom a few hundred quid would make a big difference. If you know of such an organisation, please let us know either via the survey, or by contacting us here, or through Facebook.
2009 Charities were:
- Help for Heroes, which as we all know is a charity for wounded servicemen and women.
- The John Dearnley Mobility Scheme, a local group aiming to provide mobility scooters to residents and visitors to the town.
- The Dolphins Hall, to give the old girl a well needed makeover.
2008 Charities were:
- Friends of Tetbury Hospital
- Tetbury Rugby Football Club Pike Field Appeal
